How to spend your layover
If you are looking to make the most out of your short time at Frankfurt Airport, there is plenty to do. You can shop or take one of the Airport Experience Tours that will take you behind-the scenes of this huge airport. In Terminal 1, you can also enjoy a movie with your travel companions, or even play video games. You might need to take a break and shower before you board your flight. You can book private rooms at the My Cloud Transit Hotel located in Terminal 1.
You’ll find even more things to do when you leave the terminal. This means that you will have to go through security again on your return. You can take public transport into Frankfurt, if you have the time. There you will find the reconstructed Old Town which recreates the area that was lost during World War II.
You don’t have to go too far from the airport. There are two options for entertainment in the vicinity of the airport: the Squaire shopping center or the airport itself. The shopping mall has a grocery shop, casino and a hair salon. All this before you go through security. You can even rent a conference room for business travelers if you need to squeeze in a quick meeting.
There are plenty of hotels close to the airport that can provide you with restful sleep, whether you’re on an overnight stay or a morning flight. You can walk to the Sheraton, Hilton Garden Inn and Steigenberger Airport Hotel. There are also other hotels nearby such as the Park Inn By Radisson and Steigenberger Airport Hotel.

Welcome Lounge
This lounge is available to all Frankfurt Airport passengers arriving from outside Europe.
The entry fee to the lounge is 78 US dollars. The lounge is open from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It can be accessed at Terminal 1 Landside, Arrival Area B, near baggage claim.
Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge
This lounge is available to members of Air Canada and Economy passengers.
To gain access to the lounge, you will need to be a member of Air Canada for an annual period. The lounge is open 2 hours before Air Canada’s first flight departs and 30 minutes before the end of the night. The lounge is located in Terminal 1 on the third floor, in Concourse B.
Sky Lounge
Economy passengers can use this lounge if they have booked their lounge passes in advance, or if they are members of Priority Pass (a lounge access program). If a room becomes available, you can also purchase entry at the door.
Three hours of lounge time are available for purchase at 36.65 USD. The lounge is open daily between 6:45 and 9:00 p.m. You can find it airside at Terminal 2, Concourse D, on the third floor opposite Gate D8.
Air France Lounge
This lounge is available to economy passengers traveling to countries within the Schengen Zone.
This lounge is available to members of Priority Pass, or for 36.65 USD per hour, if space permits. Hours are from 5:45 to 8:15 p.m. every day. It is located on the airside of Terminal 2 at Hall D, Schengen Area, opposite Gate D26.
Prime Class Lounge
Priority Passes are available for Economy Passholders. You can also purchase a lounge pass online.
The cost of an online pass to this lounge is 32.73 USD. The lounge is open daily from 6:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. You will find the entrance in Terminal 2 Airside Concourse E in the non-Schengen area close to Gate E7.
Lufthansa Business Lounge
Lufthansa has multiple business lounges throughout FRA. These lounges can be accessed by purchasing an online pass.
These lounges have a 67 USD entrance fee. They are open daily between 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The first location is located in Terminal 1 Airside Concourse B, close to Gate B44/B48. The second location is within the same terminal and concourse, but near Gate B24/B28.
Lufthansa Senator Lounge
Economy passengers arriving from either terminal can use this lounge, provided they are not departing on non-Schengen flight.
This lounge is available for 67 USD. Children under 2 years old get in free. It is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. You can find it in Terminal 1, Concourse C near Gate C14 or C15.
LuxxLounge
Priority Pass, pre-purchased lounge pass or door passes can be used to access the lounge. However, this is only available if there is room. This lounge is located on the land side, so you will need to pass through security again before you can head to your gate.
If you order online in advance, the cost of this pass is 32.73 USD. Door passes cost 34.37 USD per hour and 57.29 US dollars for the entire day. Lounge hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. every day. The location is Terminal 1 landside at Departure Hall B/C. Follow the escalators up from the check-in counter 680.
Premium Traveler Lounge
This lounge is also known by the Iberia VIP Lounge. This lounge is available to Priority Pass holders or online purchasers of lounge passes.
The online passes to this lounge cost 32.73 USD. It is open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The lounge can be found in Terminal 2’s Concourse D, on the second floor near Gate 26.
Frankfurt Airport Wi-Fi Access and Work Areas
You may have been to many airports, and you might have found yourself in an area without Wi-Fi. This can lead to a frustrating stopover. FRA will never have this problem.
FRA provides unlimited, free Wi-Fi. More than 300 access points are scattered throughout the facility. Most of them are in the departure areas. Log in to “Frankfort-Airport” and enter your email address.
You might want to set up an account if you regularly travel through FRA. This will enable your device to connect automatically whenever you land at the airport.

Tips and Tidbits
- There is a medical facility located in Terminal 1 Arrivals and three pharmacies if you are feeling unwell.
- Free strollers are available at the service points for families that have small children. There are also areas for children to play at the airport.
- Terminal 1 has a post office for those last-minute mails.
- Would you like some fresh air? You can find a roof deck at Terminal 1 just above Gate B42. You can enjoy panoramic views of the airport from this deck. There is even a telescope.
- You can relax after a long-haul flight by using the facilities in the terminal. Although you will need to pay a fee, it is much less expensive than booking a hotel.
- Both terminals have leisure zones that offer comfortable lounge chairs, a warm atmosphere and plenty of power outlets. The futuristic Silent Chairs are designed to block out any noise.
- You can find a quieter space in Terminal 1 or in the Yoga Rooms in both terminals.
